For many people, the idea that a Christian can be involved in the sciences, let alone be a successful scientist, is ludicrous. In our world today there is a divide between beliefs and intellect, a battle between faith and reasoning.

The Myth

The Truth

The lines we draw and the sides we stand on are the makings of our own misunderstandings. The reality is that we find our strongest convictions where our greatest uncertainty meets God's all-knowing power. As we work towards becoming Christian Scientists, we need to keep in mind the distinctions between a career, a calling, and what it truly means to do our work for the glory of God. While this is a difficult task, we should not be discouraged, for God has given us His creation and a discerning spirit that will allow us to fully investigate our world.

Is This for Me?

Handling the pressures of being a Chrisitan Scientist are not for everyone. Not only will your scientific observations be critiqued, but your faith and world views will also be heavily criticized. For as many believing scientists as there are, there will always be more who consistently deny a God. It is our job as Christians to work to discern where God is calling us to serve others. If this is the path that you are pursuing, it is worth the time to consider whether this will merely be a career or if this could be your vocation.
